Maria MuldaurIn 1963 Maria Muldaur began as a member of The Even Dozen Jug Band. They released one album on Elektra records. Maria was still Maria D'Amato at the time. She left in 1964 and joined the Jim Kweskin Jug Band where she met and married Geoff Muldaur. As a duo they released two albums together, Pottery Pie in 1968 and Sweet Potatoes in 1971, before embarking on a solo career. She scored it big in 1974 with her first solo album Maria Muldaur when she had the hit single "Midnight at The Oasis". This is her twenty-fourth solo album.
Maria Muldaur was born and raised in Greenwich Village, she has known and admired Bob Dylan's music all of her life, here is an album of his "Love" songs. The all-star band includes David Torkanowsky, keyboards; Hutch Hutchinson, bass; Tony Braunagel, drums; and Cranston Clements, guitar. Special guests include Amos Garrett, Richard Greene, and Danny Caron.
Maria Muldaur begins with "Buckets of Rain". "Lay Baby Lay" is next. Bob Dylan's most heartfelt love songs are given new life by Maria whose voice sounds as good and as sexy as ever. "Moonlight" and "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go" are especially nice. Other highlights include "Make You Feel My Love", "To Be Alone With You", "On A Night Like This" and "I'll Be Your Baby Tonight".
If you're looking for a soft, late night album to play for friends or if you're just by yourself this collection will lift you spiritually. This is as natural a pairing of any songwriter and songstress that you could ever hear. Check out Maria's complete discography on her website mariamuldaur.com
