Danny Draher
"Big Fun Tonight"
Double Dynamite Records

Danny Draher is a world class guitarist. Danny has played with Otis Rush, Buddy Guy, Allen Toussaint and as a member of The Uptown Horns, at The Democratic National Convention with Bill Clinton. This album features him playing in a trio or quartet usually featuring the Hammond B-3. The opener "Big Fun Tonite" features Danny's vocal on an infectious romp that sets the stage for this enjoyable outing.

The other tunes beginning with "My Desire" are jazzier. 'Lil' Girl" is closer to hillbilly Jazz. "Garlic & Onions" is more straight ahead. No matter what the style Danny Draher has the "chops". The Hammond B-3 is played by Chris Foreman except where Reuben Wilson or Everette De Van takes his place. Greg Rockingham plays drums except where Toby Williams or George Recille takes a turn.

"Don't Know Much" features a bigger band. Danny plays guitar and sings this "blues" with Dr John, piano; Bernard Purdie, drums; Wilbur Bascomb, bass; Larry Etkin, trumpet; and Bob Malach, sax. How's that for a band!

The groove continues with "32nd & 3rd", "Blues for C.L.""and "Jigsaw". "Disco Woman", "Goin Home" and "I Don't Know Why" are Danny's best vocals on this very good album. This album although containing vocals is basically an instrumental album. Danny's exceptional timing is especially notable on "Got A Problem With That?" All of the tracks are written and produced by Danny Draher.

Danny Draher makes his home in Chicago, but it's always "Big Fun Tonite!" when he makes it back to New York. Usually when he's in town all the musicians come out to see and play with Danny. So Danny, when are you coming back? Visit Danny's website and purchase his cd at www.dannydraher.com
