FUNDRAISER
AND GRANT WRITER VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
Blues and jazz musicians receive very little - if any -
media coverage. Even in light of current focus on Blues
and Jazz.
The New York Blues &
Jazz Society exists to foster awareness of the
significance of these musical genres, and grow a base
of supporters. Grants, sponsorships,
financial and other means of assistance are needed to fuel the
educational and informational programs, and to promote working
Blues and Jazz artists in the Metro New York / Tri-State area.
We need creative, energetic individuals who love the music to spearhead our fundraising efforts to ensure these
national treasures make it through the 21st century and
beyond. Got ideas? Let's talk! Contact info@nybluesandjazz.org.
MUSIC
IN THE SCHOOLS PROGRAM Administrator
We believe that the educational / musical
experience is essential to the youth of our country. As budgets
get slashed in these hard times it is imperative that we as a
community step up to the plate. Our ideal candidate could have
some current or prior association with the public school system
or knowledge of extra curricular musical programs but it isn't
our top requirement. Our top requirement is a love for
kids and music, that simple! Responsibilities
for this position are two-tier:
- Initial contact with
appropriate School Board Members, developing a school-specific
program, and negotiating and presenting a final proposal.
- the second step is to act as
liaison between school contacts and musicians that want to be
a part of the program.
Your love for the music and
your commitment to help start an interest in blues and jazz
among young people are key to the success of this project.
NYB&JS
music programs are tailored to fit school-specific budgetary and
curricular requirements. The number of musicians (solo -
quintet) participating in the demonstration, and frequency
(one-time assembly or series) are optional. Lecture and
performance content can be modeled to focus on one or more
musical eras geared to a school's particular music or history
curriculum.
Help ensure the future of America's musical heritage through
Blues and Jazz music programs in our schools! For full
information please contact info@nybluesandjazz.org.
ADVERTISING
SALES
This position requires
making telephone contact with past and potential advertisers
from NYB&JS lists. The candidate would be responsible
for making initial and follow-up calls, providing an explanation
of ad rates and specifications. Positive leads would be
directed for formal follow-up and placement to internet, email,
or printed advertising sources. Please contact info@nybluesandjazz.org.
MEMBERSHIP ADMIN
NYBJS needs someone to manage the membershipship database. The database is kept in Access and would require someone
to update with new members, run reports to find expired membership, and email for re-enlistment in the ranks of
the New York Blues and Jazz Society
